Short version: the rankings are not for sale. Longer version below.
How the Site Makes Money
Some outbound links are affiliate links: if you sign up through them, the casino pays us a commission. That commission never changes a score, a position on the Big Board, or a word in a review. Rooms with no affiliate deal are reviewed by exactly the same recipe - several of the top spots on our board pay us nothing.
What We Never Do
No paid placements. No "sponsored" reviews. No deleting negative findings for a commercial partner. No copying another site's numbers - every figure is verified first-hand or it is not published.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, the fix is made in place and the review's verification date is updated. Materially wrong numbers (a limit, a cap, a rate) trigger a re-check of the entire review, not just the broken line.
Free Play, Clearly Labeled
The games on this site are free social play - no deposits, no prizes. They exist to demonstrate the math we write about. Real-money play happens elsewhere, is 18+, and every page that touches it says so.
Who Writes This Site
Reviews and guides are produced by the High Stakes Casinos editorial desk rather than a named personality, and that is a deliberate choice. A single by-line invites the reader to trust a person; we would rather the reader trust a process. Every page answers to the same checklist, the same sourcing rule, and the same ranking formula, so it does not matter which hand held the pen - the standard is fixed. We do not invent author personas, staff photos or fake credentials to look bigger than we are, and we do not dress an opinion up as a qualification we do not hold.
How We Source a Claim
Every factual statement traces back to one of three places: the operator's own published terms and lobby, a licensing register such as the UK Gambling Commission, or a first-hand check we ran ourselves. We do not lift figures from other review sites, affiliate feeds or marketing banners, because those are downstream of the same primary sources and often out of date. When a claim depends on a number the operator does not publish, we say so plainly instead of borrowing a figure that looks authoritative but cannot be traced. The full checklist behind this is set out on the how we test page.
Handling Affiliate Relationships Honestly
An affiliate link pays us only if you choose to sign up, and it never earns a kinder review or a higher place on the board. We keep the commercial layer and the editorial layer separate on purpose: the person deciding a ranking is working from the checklist, not from a rate card. Several rooms we rate highly pay us nothing, and at least one room that would pay us well sits low because its terms are hard to verify. If that ever stops being true, this page is where we would have to admit it.
What We Will and Will Not Claim
We will tell you a casino is UK-licensed, what its published welcome offer is, and how it compares on transparency and withdrawals. We will not tell you a room is "the best" in a way that cannot be checked, promise winnings, or imply that a bigger bonus is automatically a better deal - the wagering behind it usually decides that. Where the honest answer is "it depends on terms that are set individually", we write exactly that. You can read how those judgements roll into a score on the methodology page.
Independence in Practice
Independence is easy to claim and only means something when it costs you money, so here is where it does. Some of the rooms rated highest on this site pay us nothing, and at least one room that would pay well sits low because its terms are hard to verify. We do not accept payment to add a casino, move it up, soften a finding, or delete a criticism, and no commercial partner sees a review before it is published. The people deciding a ranking work from the checklist on the how we test page, not from a rate card, and the two layers are kept apart on purpose. If that ever stopped being true, honesty would require us to say so here rather than quietly change the board.
Corrections, in Practice
If you find something wrong, the fastest route is the contact page. We fix errors in place, update the verification date, and where the mistake touches a number we re-run the whole review rather than patching a single line. A correction is never quietly deleted; the point of publishing a standard is being willing to be held to it.
